Summary of strengths:
The following are some of the clinical abilities and processes that I recognize as
strengths:
I have high capabilities in administering alternative drugs for a client. In specific, my
drug administering strengths lie mostly in the inhalation and transdermal route. The
transdermal route involves administering drugs across the skin in patches. The inhalation route
entails administering drugs in small droplets through the mouth by inhaling. Therefore, I have
the skills to choose and commence the right fit drug for patients. It is a skill that helps to
ensure a reduction of errors and poor clinical outcomes.
I also have strengths in administering a non-invasive ventilator that helps patients
reduce their breathing rates, lessens diaphragmatic work and supports the respiratory muscle in
breathing. My specialties entail administering bi-level positive airway pressure and continuous
positive airway pressure. BPAP and CPAP are known to be efficient in congestive heart
problem therapy.
Likewise, I have skills in the field of Compartment pressure measurement and
management that involves the technical discovery of chronic exertional compartment
syndrome or problems related to exercises. The measurements are achieved by slipping a
needle into the patients’ muscles before and after exercising. Therefore, I can pinpoint muscle
exercise problems that are not identified through scans.
More so, I have skills in saving lives through CPR. It involves compressing the chest
fast and hard in case of drowning or heart attack emergencies.
I also have skills in assessing and evaluating vital signs. These measurements include
temperature, blood pressure, breathing rates and heartbeat rates. It is a vital skill in monitoring

a patients’ progress in the health centre.
Furthermore, I can also assess the possibilities of cervical spine trauma with ease
through physical examination. My skills help in detecting midline tenderness in the vertebra. I
also use radiographic screening such as x-rays and scan that helps to detect any injuries in the
spine.
Growth opportunities:
The area that I need to develop and improve most include:
The most vital area to improve is through furthering my studies. Up-skilling will open
more doors for both career growth as a nurse and the addition of knowledge. The knowledge,
skills and experience gained will help me with my weak areas. Training is also essential in
ensuring that I am updated with the new trend in the nursing field.
The most important area with an opportunity for growth will be presenting the history
of a patient. It will be possible through developing skills such as improving my listening skills,
ability to engage the patient, improving my techniques of asking questions, establishing trust,
establishing professional boundaries and ability to notice verbal or non-verbal cues. I will also
be taking details as I talk to the client and give deep to get knowledge about past health
information of the patient.

Likewise, there is enormous room for improvement in providing Radiology reports
(interpret CT, X-ray and MRI). I have noticed I can complement my abilities to assess cervical
spine trauma by interpreting CT, X-Rays and MRA. I can improve my ability to generate good
radiology reports by integrating different autonomic results into a simple, understandable
description. I will also dig deep to get more background health information about the patients.
My findings will also be satisfying because I will develop a well-structured report that is
predictable and directs physicians towards a course of action that is clear and easy to
understand.
Another opportunity for growth will be my ability to manage procedural sedation and
give local anesthetics injections. The process of performing Compartment pressure
measurement is very risky but golden. Therefore it will be vital to learn how to sedate my
patients. I will have to for training and learn by watching my workmates perform the process.
I have noted that my ventilator setting skills are not of standard. I have zero knowledge
of managing AC, SIMV, CPAP; analyzing ABGs to guide settings/Fi02 and PEEP. Therefore, I
am planning to improve on my abilities to manage ventilators as a way to complement the
abilities to administer non-invasive procedures efficiently. I will further my studies towards
gaining more skills to handle and setting ventilators. I will also pay attention to my core
workers who are proficient in setting them and ask for assistance where necessary.
Now, write 3–4 possible goals and objectives for this practicum experience. Ensure that
they follow the SMART Strategy, as described in the Learning Resources.

Goal One: Ensure that I further my study and training in the field and gain knowledge to
apply the primary standard procedures of a health center.
Objective One: To improve my weaknesses, gain more experience and skills than enable me
to handle procedure with ease. Training will also keep me updated to the contemporary ideas
and advancement in my field as a nurse, information about practical requirements and how to
comply with the laws.
Goal Two: Learn how to present history of patient effectively without forgetting details.
Objective Two: To learn more about the benefits of utilizing a standard form inpatient
recording, history presentation, including how it can help with clinical decision-making,
patient evaluation, support, intervention planning, and follow-up care.
Goal Three: Ensure I hand over all the patient’s detail, care instructions and evaluation notes
after the end of my shift on a daily basis.
Objective Three: To be able to promote patients’ safety, save more lives and ensure
satisfaction among the patients.
