Classmate 1 – HC

A specific area that is hard for me is the actual creaon of what is to be tested. Idenfying the IV and DV.
So the Milestone 3 was the hardest for me so far, in that I am having trouble in coming up with a true
hypothesis os tesng two variables. I think I am making too broad of a queson and I need to narrow it
down, but there are important aspects to the whole picture. Maybe I need to have more than one
hypothesis?

Classmate2- AR

Hi everyone,

Wow, we’re so close! Feels very surreal and somewhat emotional for me as it’s been quite rough
for me personally this term, but as I’m sure you’re all doing, have to keep moving forward.

For this week, I’ve overall just been struggling with sticking to the topic that I’ve chosen for my
final project in all honesty. I felt this somewhat pressure over the fact that the topic I was
choosing for this course is also the topic that I will be focusing on for PSY520; I feel as though
that fact has made me overthink this entire process. I struggled with my literature review because
the studies I have seen so far have all been quite spread out in regard to I guess the ‘validity’ or
‘significance’ of the results of each study and what they really tell us. Everything is still very up
in the air for my topic, astrological romance, therefore there’s a lot of research gaps. I wonder if I
should have picked something different but at the same time, I’ve always found it quite
interesting and wanted to give myself a bit of a break from my usual topics within forensic
psychology.

Something that has been in my mind also has been the impending use of SPSS for our future
work on this topic in PSY520. Truthfully, I have a hard time with math overall, so means,
correlations, scatterplots, and histograms are not my favorite concepts or tasks to be completed in
true transparency. I dread having to do this once we follow through with our studies and I fear
that I’m not completely understanding the graphs and figured that I am analyzing in my current
literature review. Needless to say, final projects are scary.
